A Closer Look at Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Can’t find what you’re looking for at Albertsons Library? Try Interlibrary Loan! This free service is available to all current Boise State University students, staff, and faculty. But, what is it? Interlibrary Loan (ILL) seeks to support the research and teaching needs of Boise State by providing materials beyond the collections of Albertsons Library. Through this service, students and staff have access to short term loans from libraries all across the country, and in some cases, internationally. In 2013 alone, Albertsons Library borrowed 13,474 items and loaned out 5,747 items. I use Interlibrary Loan most often when I am researching a specific person or topic that might require materials that are harder to find.

A wide range of materials are available for short term loans, including:
  • Books
  • CD’s
  • DVD’s
  • Microfilm
  • and so much more!

How hard is it to take advantage of this great service? Not hard at all! If you see a resource that you need and we don’t have it, then click on the orange ‘Request item through Interlibrary Loan’ link to get the item you need from another establishment. If you have never used Interlibrary Loan before, you will need to set up your account with your my.boisestate.edu information, but that is easy as 1-2-3!
