Try Out Your New Library Study Spaces

View of the Greenbelt, from the Library's 3rd floor.

Summer has been a busy time for Albertsons Library. While preparing space for the College of Innovation and Design, and GIMM Lab we have made a lot of changes to the library study spaces.

For several years, the 3rd and 4th floors of the library were considered quiet floors. As we have been opening up more study group rooms on those floors, we have found that the volume levels have (not surprisingly) increased in those areas. We want to develop study spaces that would accommodate multiple types of learners and the different ways students work. The 4th floor has the most group study rooms, so starting Fall 2015 semester, it will be opened up as a collaborative space. The 3rd floor will remain a quiet floor. We have also added an additional quiet space -- the McCain Room will now be designated as a quiet study area.

With all the changes we’ve been making, we want user feedback! These changes are experiments to see what works and what does not. We need to know how YOU use the library. Where is your space? Let us know via our survey or tweet us at @BSULibrary.

Reserve a Study Room at Albertsons Library!

Reserve me! http://goo.gl/6EsfO6
Based on student feedback, Albertsons Library has increased the number of group study rooms that can be reserved by students.

The six study rooms, located on all four floors of the library can be reserved via the online reservation form, or students can continue to place reservations at the Circulation or CRC (2nd floor) Desk.

Rooms can be reserved by current Boise State students for 3 hours at a time, 2 reservations a week, and 1 week in advance.

In addition, faculty, staff, and graduate students can reserve private study rooms on the 4th floor. Two rooms, 401 K and 401 L, are small study rooms with one desk and chair.

These offices are ideal for working in a quiet space, away from interruptions. These rooms can be reserved for 8 hours at a time, 3 time slots a week, 1 month in advance. Keys to the room must be checked out at the Circulation Desk. Reservations can be made via our online form, or at the Circulation and CRC Desks.

Other study rooms on the 3rd and 4th floor are first-come first-served. Visit the library’s Library Space page to learn more about the various study and collaborative spaces in the building.

Study rooms available at the library

Are you looking for a quiet place to study? Need to hammer out the last edit of your book chapter?

Albertsons Library has five study offices available for check-out. The offices have a desk and chair and are meant for one-person use and are located on the 4th floor of the building.

Three offices: 401M, 401N, and 401O can be used by all Boise State patrons: faculty, staff, graduate students, undergraduates. Two offices: 401K and 401L can be used by faculty, staff, and graduate students only.

Keys for the rooms can be checked-out with your Boise State ID at the circulation desk. You can use the room for as long as you need it, but keys cannot leave the building and must be returned if you leave the library.
